Dynamic Forces of the Square
Compositional study focused on establishing visual tension with the inherent forces of the square. The goal of this composition is to simulate motion through tension and call the viewer's eye away from the center of the square.
Expanding concept into 3D Space
Applying the lessons learned from the inherent forces studies, I created connected motifs in this first iteration. For a first draft, this composition connects related ideas and emphasizes the corners of the cube.
Inherent Forces of the Cube
In this iteration, a heavy emphasis is placed on the relationship between each tile and the corner of the cube. This was a great chance to understand how to create a focal point separate from the center of individual tiles although it lacks tension and motion.
Final Cube Rendering
Utilizing the dynamic forces of the cube, a much more rhythmic and balanced composition can be struck. In my final iteration I took what I learned from the studies highlighting the corners to create balanced switches between positive and negative space on a range of axis'.
